JAY MESINGER sold his first aircraft in 1974. Ever since then he has been looking for new ways to market his business. He experimented with corporate video in the 1980s (his accent has changed significantly). In the 1990s, Mesinger Jet Sales bought mobile phones that only had their office number on and sent them to a select group of potential customers.

His firm launched its website in 1994. This happened when their office neighbour registered the prime domain www.jetsales as a favour for Mesinger. Mesinger Jet Sales is still experimenting with its website – it is one of a few not to have a picture of an aircraft on the homepage.

In the past few years, he has also been experimenting with virtual meetings with both the National Business Aviation Association and Corporate Jet Investor.

“During Covid we were all desperate for a sense of community,” says Mesinger, “and it was amazing how these virtual gatherings brought everyone together. Now that we are no longer stuck in our pyjamas, they are still great for imparting knowledge.”

In 2026, Mesinger is co-hosting a series of Town Halls with Corporate Jet Investor looking at how customers need to see value. “There is a fallacy of price vs value. Price is a one-time thing and cost is a lifetime thing and this is never more true than in a complex industry like business aviation,” says Mesinger.

The first one in January focused on how to deliver value with others in 2026 looking at topics like operating, insuring, maintenance and supporting aircraft.

There will also be a range of Emergency Town Halls. These will examine breaking news topics such as the impact of tariffs and the FAA’s decision to deregister 800 aircraft. You can find more information here: www.corporatejetinvestor.com/town-hall
