THE FUTURE IS ELECTRIC
YOU CAN pretty much split people into two groups when it comes to electric aircraft: sceptics and believers. At Corporate Jet Investor Dubai, 70% of the audience believed that electric aircraft will be widespread after 2030. Some 54% of delegates believed they will not be flying in significant numbers until 2035 at the earliest. With 27% betting on after 2050.
We fall firmly into the first group. Our Revolution.Aero conference focused on the future of flight has been running in San Francisco since 2018 and we are as excited about electric aircraft now as we were five years ago. No one should underestimate the regulatory, engineering or production hurdles that they need to jump, but electric vertical aircraft are coming in the next few years. And with them come great opportunities for anyone involved in business aviation.
Yves Le Marquand, the editor of Revolution.Aero, has spoken to the companies leading the race to fly electric. We all know how hard building aircraft is, but we are confident that these are the ones that you should be speaking with.
Business aviation lost a huge advocate earlier this year with the sad passing of Athar Husain Khan, the secretary general of the European Business Aviation Association. Khan spent more than 30 years advocating for aviation in Europe, led European business aviation through Covid and was fighting hard to make business aviation a sustainability leader. All of us who knew him at CJI will miss his wisdom, leadership and sense of humour. Mike Stones has spoken to others who knew him well.
We also look at connectivity, visit F/List in Austria and much more in the issue. As always, please let us know what you would like to see in future editions and thanks to all the advertisers who make the magazine possible.
We hope to see you soon.
