ENJOYING THE RISE OF BUSINESS AVIATION
NBAA BACE and Corporate Jet Investor Miami are a great time to look back on the past two years. In October 2020 we were still waiting for the announcement of a vaccine. Just 12 months ago, it was impossible for Europeans and many others to fly straight into the US without spending two weeks in Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean.
Spurred on by Covid, the rise and rise of business aviation in the past two years has been amazing. Our cover story talks to the people who have lived and breathed this sudden shift in demand. Charter accounts for a third of all business jet flights according to WINGX.
It is also a key driver of aircraft sales. Many future buyers become owners after using charter or jet cards. There is also an increasing number of owners looking to use charter revenues to offset ownership costs. These owners are relying on demand staying strong. And operators say they have not seen any signs of demand slowing – yet.
This issue also has our first ever Sustainability Power Players List. These 20 people come from a wide range of companies – aircraft brokers, operators, manufacturers, fuel companies, consultants and others – demonstrating the industry’s 360-degree commitment to a zero-emission future.
A surprising number of people now managing aviation companies were inspired by one film in 1986: Top Gun. Hopefully, the 2022 version has the same effect. We look at how the key aircraft for Top Gun: Maverick is a Phenom 300.
There are a lot of scary financial headlines and no boom lasts forever, but now is the time to enjoy record demand.
For us, the past year has been an amazing chance to run our events face-to-face again. This started at CJI Miami last year and has continued in London, Geneva, Singapore, Dubai and San Francisco for our Revolution.Aero future of aviation conference.
It has been exciting and energising seeing so many friends and new people in real life. We look forward to seeing even more over the next few months.
