WHEELS UP TO LAND ON WALL STREET
Wheels Up launched the same year as our CJI Miami conference and Kenny Dichter, its founder, has provided some memorable moments. In 2019 he brought five colleagues onto the stage with him to highlight the strength of his team. He then added an audio-visual technician to help with his slides. In 2017 we were delighted to welcome his mum to the conference.
The company has gone from a business plan eight years ago to one that is about to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. As the first pure-play business jet company on the exchange, it is going to be watched closely. We look back at the early history of Wheels Up and its plans for the future.
We do not often dedicate a whole article to one flight, but our safety special looking at how Bruce Monnier and Jerry Downs managed to safely land a business jet with no engines working is a must-read. Their feat was so exceptional that the National Business Aviation Association created an award to recognise it.
As always, we focus on planes, people and passion. Other stories look at the end of the Learjet line with the Learjet Liberty, what connectivity options owners have and the real dangers of illegal charter.
We are also excitedly planning for CJI Miami, which starts on November 2nd 2021. If you want to meet and find out what is driving the people shaping the business aviation market – please join us at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach on November 2nd and 3rd.
We hope to see everyone as soon as possible in 2021! Until then, stay safe and best regards,
LOUISA WHYTE, Publisher
