IF MULTI-ORBIT is the buzzword in connectivity, Gogo is playing a strong game.
The Gogo Plane Simple, operating on the GEO satellite network, sits alongside Gogo Galileo, the company’s entrant in the hot new LEO race. Then there is the newly deployed Gogo 5G air-to-ground network in the contiguous US and parts of Canada and Alaska, which went live in January 2026. The original Gogo business aviation will transition to an improved LTE service.
That covers all the orbits and most aircraft types to offer customers a comprehensive package designed to deliver the only multi-orbit, multi-band offering to the global business aviation and military/government sector. Gogo’s acquisition of Satcom Direct in 2024, a value-added reseller of connectivity, was the strategic start-up and added GEO satellite savvy to its legacy ATG service.
But Gogo Galileo is the modern talking point. It is a connectivity system comprising both a fuselage-mounted antenna and a router in the aircraft. Powered by Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO network, it offers high-speed, low-latency Ku-band connectivity.
It uses low-profile, electronically steered antenna – HDX for aircraft from light to heavy and FDX for super-mid to large cabin aircraft. The FDXr antenna is for tailored military and government applications with a removable radome. In 2025 Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) began installing Gogo Galileo as a retro-fit or line-fit option. VistaJet has also pledged to use Gogo Galileo across part of its fleet. NetJets announced an extension to its long-standing partnership with Gogo, pledging to connect about 450 of its aircraft with 5G and Galileo. Wheels Up is equipping its fleet of Phenom 300 and Challenger jets with the Gogo Galileo HDX.
Gogo’s Plane Simple GEO offering is either Ku-band through Intelsat (SES) FlexExec or Ka-band with Viasat Jet ConneX/JetXP.
In October, the company renewed a deal worth more than $15m to supply GEO connectivity to a government customer. “This reflects the confidence built through years of reliable performance and responsive support,” said Chris Moore, CEO.
Separately, he describes Gogo’s ATG solution as “complementary product” for light and midsize jets with speeds of up to 80Mbps.
The Gogo router family provides the software operating system. It comes in six models (AVANCE L3, L5, LX5, SCS, SDR and SDR Gateway) offering varying levels of sophistication and compatibility with ATG/LEO/GEO systems.
