HONEYWELL AEROSPACE is a leading supplier of avionics, engines, flight controls, connectivity systems, navigation and safety technologies for commercial airlines, business aviation, defence and space customers.
In business aviation, its satellite communications hardware and cabin connectivity services include the JetWave family of terminals that enable high-speed Ka-band in-flight internet.
JetWave was launched in 2017 and set the benchmark for connectivity for super midsize jets through to bizliners, via Inmarsat’s JetConneX service which operates on its Global Express (GX) GEO satellite network. The next-generation JetWave X is a multi-network-ready solution able to connect to both the GX satellites, the new ViaSat-3 network and future Ka-band satellite constellations. Honeywell Aerospace claims this ability to access the network with the best connection at any given moment makes JetWave X “network agnostic” and “future-proof”.
It delivers download speeds “over 10 times faster” than first-generation satcom systems.
Honeywell Aerospace says more than 2,500 business jets are fitted with JetWave products. JetWave X began shipping in the first quarter of 2026.
“When we were evaluating the market and launching JetWave X, we wanted to make sure that we had the most flexibility for the end customer and how they wanted to really integrate the system and the network on their aircraft,” Adam Sheppard, general manager, Inflight Connectivity at Honeywell Aerospace, tells us.
“Unlocking the entire value chain for customers, both the network and the service providers is our kind of number one value prop.”
Honeywell Aerospace has agreements with all major OEMs, including both Bombardier and Dassault, to add JetWave X as a line-fit or retro-fit system on a range of their business jets.
“The best level of connectivity is essential for living and working on board our fleet of long-range aircraft,” said Carlos Brana, executive vice president, Civil Aircraft, Dassault Aviation at the time. “The addition of JetWave X builds on our long and successful collaboration with Honeywell [Aerospace] and keeps us at the forefront of the business jet travel experience. We are convinced that this system will satisfy the needs of our most frequent business jet travellers.”
Most legacy JetWave customers can easily upgrade to JetWave X using existing Ka-band radomes and wiring.
“It’s really about flexibility, longevity and simplified installation,” adds Sheppard.
With Honeywell Aerospace, customers get access to 24/7/365 support and offers a range of service plans for customers to choose their own best fit.
