MANAGING TO THRIVE
THERE IS a lot of information on aircraft management company websites. You can see what aircraft they already manage, read about their team and look at lots of pictures of aircraft.
But no matter how good their web designer is, you cannot discover the most important thing for any aircraft owner: does the company fit you culturally? The aircraft owner/manager relationship should be a long-term one and you need to spend time choosing the right organisation.
This means visiting and meeting with them. In our cover feature, aircraft managers advise owners looking for a management firm to not just sit in the boardroom but walk around their facility. As well as business development people, you should sit with those who will be managing your aircraft. This may seem like a lot of work, especially for an asset that is going to save you time. But with aircraft management, the relationship will be remembered long after the price is forgotten.
There is no shortage of news stories about Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the moment. In this issue we look at how AI can help make business aviation more efficient. We deliberately talked to companies that have been looking at using AI for years and not just ones that have jumped on the bandwagon since Chat GPT came out.
While some pilots are nervously looking at autonomous aircraft, business jet owners are not going to be the first to switch and training companies know this. In the summer Mike Stones was invited to try out one of CAE’s new Phenom 300 simulators. He also had Kevin LaRosa, showing him how to fly missions similar to the ones he flew while filming the Top Gun: Maverick movie.
This issue also has reviews of our CJI Asia conference, the Dealmaker’s Club Party and the Aircraft Transaction Masterclass. Our team is busy working on CJI Miami and CJI London now. And we hope to see you soon.
